I spent last week in Chicago. Almost all the street musicians, and pan handlers rock the milkcrates. This gentleman near the Niketown store, had a sweet milkcrate set up, and some crazy patent leather kicks.

Crate lounge
Austrailia is pushing the milkcrate lifestyle forward. From designer Stefan Lie, comes the milkcrate lounge chair. 20 milkcrates and some twist ties, and you are on your way. I need to get to Austrailia soon.
